The insidious underminer of meditation
Did you ever wonder why you resist something
that connects you to inner peace and happiness? Isn't it
ironic how often the best things for you can be what you
simply forget about?
Something like meditation, for instance, can
bring you inner peace and mental clarity yet
appear unimportant and boring, and you may have little time
for it.
Yet this is like being addicted to poison
while resenting the antidote!
This is the challenge ... remembering to
go within to observe the mind.
How automatically we live out our life in
the service of time limitations instead of seeking the
timeless through quietly observing and being aware, now!

Ego, Personality and the Witnessing Presence
— from Eckhart Tolle
Meditation and becoming the 'witnessing presence'
Ego is
complete identification with your thinking and your
emotions. When you are unconscious, personality and ego are
one thing.
As you awaken, you become more aware of your
patterns, which may to some extent still operate. I’m
choosing to define personality as something that you can be
aware of.

Four great tips for handling stress
|
A new approach to stress, from Positive
Psychologist Karen Reivich Ph.D., is shedding light on how
we can all deal with life's obstacles. Her tips for
handling whatever comes your way.
Get perspective
You don't need to shoo
away those thoughts; instead, take a look at their opposite.
Don't wait for the
sword to drop
"The best way to undercut anxiety is to take
purposeful action," Reivich says.
Look for joy
"Joy and
gratitude can help inoculate you against the paralyzing
effects of anxiety."
Pool your resources
"When you can draw from your own strengths
as well as those of the people around you, you're looking at
a very powerful package."

Inspiring quotes from Thich Nhat Hanh
Martin Luther King Jr. described Thich Nhat
Hanh as "an
apostle of peace and nonviolence". A teacher, writer
and vocal opponent of war, Thich Nhat Hanh shares a few
words of wisdom below.
-
"Freedom is not given to us by anyone;
we have to cultivate it ourselves. It is a daily
practice. No one can prevent you from being aware of
each step you take or each breath in and breath out."
-
"People have a hard time letting go of
their suffering. Out of a fear of the unknown, they
prefer suffering that is familiar."
