Stillness
and
Meditation
When
consciousness
as
attention
is
fixed
on
stillness,
a
subtle
manifestation
of
consciousness
arises.
It
is
the
inquiry
that
arises
when
the
self
is
experienced.
Because
meditation
provides
a
stable
platform
for
self
inquiry,
it
is
useful
to
develop
a
meditation
practice,
assuming
the
meditator
is
seeking
enlightenment.
When
the
mind
is
in
contact
with
the
self,
the
mind
is
uplifted
and
self
realization
may
occur.
When
the
meditator
transcends
the
mind,
he
or
she
sees
from
consciousness’
point
of
view.
| The Art of Effortless Living by Dr Ingrid Bacci.
Join us this Friday to explore STILLNESS and an "inner" exercise from the best selling book: The Art of Effortless Living by Dr Ingrid Bacci.
This is a book that extols a transition from "Doing" to "Being".
Amongst other things this book looks at the idea of devoting ourselves to using the events of each day to pursue inner growth.
Even while we are interested in inner growth most of us still define our day in terms of a
'to- do' list: getting the next appointment booked; the obligatory phone calls completed; the children off to school; or the next meal arranged.
"This book contains a piece of essential wisdom—that by letting go we gain more, not less. Because most of us are obsessed with the idea of making things happen, we seriously need the lessons of The Art of Effortless Living." Larry Dossey, M.D.

Get to work
on your
happiness
"With happiness,
people tend to
think you've
either got it or
you haven't,"
says Sydney
psychologist, Dr
Tony Grant. "But
that's only
partly true."

Thinking
away pain
Meditation as
a cheap self
administered
morphine . . .
New therapeutic
approaches don't
target body
parts or nerves
close to the
source of the
problem. They
don't involve
highly technical
surgeries or
expensive new
drugs. Instead,
they focus on
the mind, on
altering the
ways in which we
perceive the
pain itself.

October
HealtheLetter
from Dr Daniel
Lewis
The question I
want to ask you
is how do you
know how to
follow your
heart and
intuition? How
do you discover
your potential?
One way of doing
this ...and the
best way that I
know is to spend
some time each
day with
yourself being
silent and
still.
